In the context of the research activities of the Internet Media Group in collaboration with the PIC4SeR center (https://pic4ser.polito.it), we are looking for master thesis students interested in studying and implementing systems to interact with robots using web interfaces and robot API (using, for instance, ROS - Robot Operating System) to control drones and rovers. For instance, it would be interesting to implement remote monitoring systems, based on browsers, with a potential video feedback. It is also possible to experiment in real scenarios with actual robots. The activity can be carried out without being physically present on a day-to-day basis at the Politecnico, except when actual experiments with robots needs to be carried out.

Requirements:

• Ability to program in the context of web applications using HTTP API
• Basic knowledge of multimedia data management (images, videos)

Italian description: Monitoraggio remoto ed interfacciamento con robots (droni/rovers)

Nell’ambito delle attività di ricerca dell’Internet Media Group all’interno del centro PIC4SeR (https://pic4ser.polito.it), si ricercano studenti interessati a studiare e realizzare modalita’ di interazione con robots tramite interfacce web, API dei robots (anche con l’uso di ROS - Robot Operating System) per comandare droni e rovers. Per esempio, e’ interessante realizzare sistemi di monitoraggio remoto, basati su browser, con eventuale feedback video. E’ prevista la possibilita’ di sperimentare utilizzando robots reali. L’attivita’ non necessita di una presenza fisica giornaliera presso il Politecnico se non per effettuare gli esperimenti con i robots.

Requisiti :

• Capacita’ di programmazione in ambito web utilizzando API di tipo HTTP
• Conoscenza di base della gestione di dati multimediali (immagini, video)
